While we are all becoming familiar and more efficient with the ‘new normal’, the way we develop and continue to train and mentor technicians, engineers and surveyors are more critical than ever.
Young and aspiring professionals need to be surrounded by more experienced colleagues who can provide support and guidance throughout the working day. This is certainly more challenging when we are all working remotely. We identified this challenge at the very start of the lockdown period, and quickly put measures in place to support our colleagues with their training and development.
Training and development have always been at the very top of our objectives. By creating a true learning culture throughout the business, we are continually improving ourselves and delivering exceptional projects.
Every Thursday afternoon, we are hosting a CPD webinar for all staff on a range of engineering and surveying subjects. We encourage all staff to take part and take their turn at presenting.
Subjects have included ‘Conceptual Structural Design’, ‘Principles of Infrastructure Design’, and ‘Appraisals of Existing Buildings’.
This training schedule also provides an opportunity for those staff who have been on Furlough Leave, to maintain their professional development.
We are determined to continue to develop and mentor technicians, engineers and surveyors of the future. Working at home and being isolated in our own ‘bubble’ can be detrimental to the development of our colleagues. We all have a responsibility to help others.
