Meet the Directors
We are very proud of our Board of Directors who bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and creativity to our business. Their leadership skills have been invaluable over the last 12 months and we would like to share with you an insight to their careers, motivation, and passion for the business.
We will introduce you to a new Director each week and what better way to start, on International Women’s Day than with Michelle, our Director of Projects.
Director of Projects
BSc (Hons) EngTech MICE MTPS MCIHT
What does your job involve?
I am responsible for our Projects and Pre-Planning team. I work closely with the team to ensure we deliver on our promises to our clients. A typical day for me can be quite varied – it can include anything from working on a project, meeting clients, to attending Board meetings. Mostly I’m based in the office, but I enjoy getting out to site – particularly when the weather is nice!
Tell us about your career so far…..
Since leaving University, I spent a couple of years working for a local consultants, before finding Canham Consulting in 2012. I joined Canham Consulting as a Transport Planner, before moving into the role of Pre-Planning Engineer. Both these roles allowed me to work on a variety of projects and helped to broaden my experience. It was in the Pre-Planning department where I moved into a leadership role, and now I oversee the Projects and Pre-Planning team as Director of Projects.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the culture of the business. Canham Consulting has always been a friendly and supportive environment to work in and I’ve enjoyed the opportunities to develop my career and support my colleagues. I really enjoy getting to know our clients, understanding what they need, and seeing a project through to completion.
What are you looking forward to in the next 12 months?
2020 was certainly an eventful year with the challenges of COVID-19 and becoming a first time Mum! This year I’m looking forward to developing the Projects team and supporting both my colleagues, and the business. I’m hopeful this year will bring some positive change, possibly with more flexible working arrangements and remote meetings where suitable, but I think we’re all looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the office soon!
What keeps you busy outside of work?
My weekends usually involve lots of walking, gardening, and cooking. When lockdown restrictions are eased, I’m looking forward to long overdue catch ups with my friends and family. My husband and I are also beekeepers, it’s a slightly unusual hobby but one that pays really well….in honey! And of course, I have my 10 month old son who keeps me on my toes!
