The first of the 12 shops have now been completed on the regeneration project on Regent Road, Great Yarmouth. The project consists of the construction of new retail units, as well as flats and townhouses following a devastating fire in August 2016 that destroyed forty-two market stalls and a bowling alley.
Canham Consulting were appointed by Elm Contracts to provide structural design for the insulating concrete formwork and the steel frame for the glazed shop fronts. We also provided party wall services for the adjacent walls.
“We have really enjoyed being able to help restore this popular area of Great Yarmouth to allow local businesses to reopen,” commented Canham Consulting’s director, Rob Panter.
Our engineers have provided a high quality buildable and practical structural solution for what has been a challenging site.”
Edward Moore of Elm Contracts added, “Those involved in the project gave 100% to make sure it didn’t lose momentum and it was ready to open in time for the summer season.
Everyone has pulled together to create what is one the best-looking buildings in the Borough for a number of years.”
We were originally involved in the safe demolition of the damaged buildings and provided pre-planning support at the planning stage for the new buildings.
